DeterTech at Solar Careers Hub Glasgow – Protecting Renewable Infrastructure

As the UK accelerates its transition to renewable energy, the rapid expansion of solar farms, battery storage sites and onshore wind projects is reshaping the energy landscape. Alongside this growth comes an increasingly urgent challenge – protecting renewable energy infrastructure from theft, trespass and organised criminal activity.

DeterTech will be attending the Solar Careers Hub Glasgow on 25 February at the Technology & Innovation Centre, University of Strathclyde. Hosted by Solar Energy UK, the event brings together students, employers and industry leaders to support skills development across the rapidly expanding solar sector.

Solar farms and battery energy storage systems are often located in remote or semi-rural areas, making them particularly vulnerable to targeted theft. High-value materials such as copper cabling, inverters and batteries present attractive opportunities for organised criminal groups.
